Website Design for Kingston Health Centre
Kingston Health Centre is a large NHS GP practice in Kingston upon Thames, serving thousands of patients across the local area. Like many NHS practices, they need a website that works hard during peak times when patients are looking for appointments, repeat prescriptions, service information and health advice.
Their original website was built using Fortun, a premium WordPress theme designed for creative agencies and portfolios. It looked polished but was completely unsuitable for a busy GP practice. Patients couldn’t easily find what they needed, appointments and registration linked out to external forms, and the site was built to showcase rather than serve. After maintaining the site for a period, I rebuilt it from scratch with a custom WordPress theme focused entirely on patient needs and practice efficiency.
The new site handles 40 pages of patient information, integrates repeat prescription requests with NHS systems, and includes a backup appointment form that the practice can activate when NHS systems go down. Since launching in 2019, the site has been on ongoing maintenance, adapting as the practice’s needs evolve. The practice maintains a 4.8 Google rating, and the website now functions as a proper front door to patient care rather than just a digital brochure.
